Breanna Draxler has 14 years of experience managing, editing, reporting, and writing for national magazines and online outlets. She is currently the deputy editor at YES! Media, where she leads strategic editorial partnerships and guides the production of stellar solutions journalism, particularly in the realms of environmental and climate justice and Indigenous sovereignty.
Breanna is based in unceded Coast Salish lands (Seattle), and has worked in newsrooms on both coasts and in between. Her previous positions include editing and reporting for National Geographic online, Grist, bioGraphic, Popular Science, and Discover Magazine.
She has served on the board of the Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ) and the Northwest Science Writers Association (NSWA). She is also an associate member of the Indigenous Journalists Association (IJA) and the Uproot Project. She is active in the Solutions Journalism Network (SJN), Covering Climate Now (CCNow), and the Institute for Journalism and Natural Resources (IJNR).
Breanna has a master's degree in environmental journalism from the University of Colorado Boulder and a bachelor's degree in environmental studies, French, and creative non-fiction writing from Gustavus Adolphus College.
